Hi,
I am about to attempt my first brake job tomorrow, will be replacing my stock pads and rotors with Mintex Red Box and Zimmerman drilled rotors. There is plenty of info on this board and tech pages about changing pads, but little on the rotors. Anyone have experience with changing the rotors? Are there any additional tools needed or gotcha steps I should be aware of?
Also, should I expect to have to bleed the brake lines after this work?
thanks

its like 2 bolts, The actual rotor is held on by the wheel bolts and the pressure of the wheel.
So its pretty easy to remove.

My front rotors were rusted stuck when I changed mine. I bought a small 4lb metal head sledge hammer from Home Depot. 2-3 whacks & the old rotors came right off.

Use a 2x4 and strike them at the outside of the facing. This will loosen them up.
I had to do that to mine. The 2x4 doesnt make too much loud noise like a hammer does.

& let it sit over night. No dice. Finally used the sledge hammer as a last resort. 30 secs and the damn rotors were free. It was a very frustrating process till then. SHould've bought the hammer 1st. Oh well, at least I know now.

I think I mentioned the tools and sizes needed if they weren't already in there.
If you don't open up the lines on the caliper, then you don't need to bleed the brakes. You will want to open up the cap on the master cylinder before you compress the piston in the caliper. But as long as the system stays closed, you can avoid bleeding the brakes.
Good luck!
