Default ECS Slotted/Cross-Drilled Rotors?

Has anybody had experience with these rotors? I've heard people say things about drilled rotors and cracking and what not but ECS swears that won't happen (and they seem to be a reliable source). These are also cadmium coated, any comments on that? I'm thinking of matching them with some Mintex pads as well.

Thanks,
Jamie

Default X-drilled rotors have a much worse reputation than they should

You always hear how ppl wouldn't touch them b/c of the possibility of cracking. But I don't think I have seen one case on AW where someone actually cracked a rotor. So while the chances of it cracking are higher, unless you track your car and don't use the proper pads, I wouldn't worry about them cracking.

Just get the slotted and not cross-drilled.

Default I plan to buy these for my GTI (slotted)...

I have had drilled rotors on the A4 and GTI with no problems. Although, I would not recommend them for the track; that's where you could run into cracking issues eventually. I had some DBA cadmium coated rotors and they don't rust at all. You'll only see a little rust on the swept area, if the car has sat in the rain. Of course, that will go away when you apply the brakes.

X-drilled rotors are a cosmetic-only upgrade. They will wear your pads more. They will dissipate heat less well. They may crack catastrophically. IMO, a bad idea.

https://forums.audiworld.com/racing/msgs/28562.phtml</a

It's kind of looking like slotted is the way to go...

Default ANY rotors can crack.

Poorly made cross drilled rotors just give different places for cracks to start.

Default Yeah, I do

Hard to comment on difference in braking power because my stock rotors and pads were shot when I put these in. But wet braking is much improved.

Default Yup...xdrilled just give greater opportunity for cracking...

but true, both can crack.
