:: ECS Tuning :: Timing Belt Kits for B5 A4 V6 30v
If there's one job on your Audi that won't tolerate shortcuts or mistakes, it's a timing belt replacement. There are no mulligans, no do-overs to be had. Get it right the first time, or pay.
We know what it takes to do this job. That's why our Ultimate timing belt kits include the things you need to do a trouble-free, lasting t-belt service: premium timing belt plus tensioners, rollers, seals, water pump and thermostat. Move up to kits with coolant and our special cam locking tool, as needed.
ECS Ultimate Plus Timing Belt Kit comes with the following components:
- Timing Belt
- Idler Roller
- Tensioner Roller
- Hydraulic Tensioner
- Relay Lever for Hydraulic Tensioner
- Water Pump
- Cam Seal - Two
- Crank/Oil Pump Seal
- Thermostat
- Thermostat O-Ring
- Accessory Drive Belt
- 1.5 Liter Bottle of G13 Coolant - 2
When do-overs are not an option...

We include two because while you're working at the front of the engine if you want to pop your cam gears off you can with out having to do much more work since it's right there.
Thanks for the concern.

The two behind the cam gears are easily the most accessible.
Even though this is a 2.7T motor the 2.8 30v V6 is set up similarly. It's pretty self explanatory when looking at this pic.

No doubt. And you are three bolts or 10 minutes away from changing the third seal, an opportunity lost once the covers are back on. If it is worth the effort to change the other two, is it not worth the effort to change the third?
Sorry if this is coming across as trolling, but your logic doesn't hold up. As I've mentioned may times on this forum, IMHO it makes no sense not to change *all* cam seals (4) as well as cam plugs and cam adjuster seals as part of the timing belt job. Changing two seals is like changing two spark plugs to me. The difference, however, is that the rear cam seal, cam adjuster seals, and cam plugs are all addressable (difficult but addressable) without removing the timing belt again, while the third front cam seal (bank one cam position sensor seal) is buried. Including only two seals in the kit does a dis-service to the uneducated, as they may think they are doing a complete job ("kit" tends to imply this) when they may be creating more work for themselves later.
As I said, I don't mean to come off as a troll, so I'll walk away from this thread now, but I do think ECS might reconsider the contents of this kit.
