Default Engine Light On...please help...
I'd appreciate if yall (yes I am from the south) help me.

I was driving down the road yesterday and the check engine light came on. I drove all around yesterday and today and plan to take it to the dealer tomorrow. Two days ago my gas cap got ran over by a 4 Runner (smashed into 4 pieces). So all yesterday I drove around with a gas cap that really only covered half of the opening. My question is, is the gas cap the reason that the light went on? And if so how long until it goes off?

Yep, it should go off when you get a new cap. Where do you live?

Need to have the complete fuel system under pressure. Low pressure=CELO (check eng. lght on)

an inproper gas cap could be the cause,if it is & you replace it with the correct one the lite should go out after 50 driving cycles.
