Aren't there supposed to be timing marks for each of the cams as well as the crank? I can't seem to find any of them. Can someone tell me where to look?

Okay, found the crank timing mark. Engine is now at TDC. How do I align the cams?

Default Couple of pics

One is of a belt change in progress from ECS site.

The other is a scan of one of my old manuals.

Unfortunately it assumes you are using the special holding tool.

Thank you AudiMick -- that actually answers a lot of questions.

I still can't find the timing marks for the cams. Are they on the front of the sprockets somehwere, or maybe on top under the belt? Where are the corresponding marks on the heads? Somewhere on the plastic rear covers? What do they look like? An arrow and a line like on the crank?

I dont know if yours actually has a cam mark, but in your photo, your not at TDC. Rotate the engine around again, the brackets on the cams should be horizontal as shown to be TDC.

Yes, the crank timing marks line up, which would indicate TDC. However, the #1 piston is not at the top of its bore (shouldn't it be?)... Rotating the engine rotates the cams 180 degrees, so the alignment is the same. The RH cam is apparently off, but in which direction?

I don't see any marks anywhere on the cams, pulleys, or the plastic housing surrounding them. I'd hate to put it 180 degrees out and turn the engine over... I'm hoping to avoid replacing the head, not ensuring it.
