Default Enigne Misfiring... What could it be???

I took my car to Autozone to have it code tested today and it threw out 10 codes. the codes that got me was 4, 5, and 6 are misfiring. I have new spark plugs in them and the same wires that were on the car when i got it 3 weeks ago. checked the wires and they are firing the plugs when i have a plug on the wires with it running. So I am assuming that the wires and plugs are good since the plugs are brand new. What could be causing this and what should I look for???

Default What plugs? You could have hurt the wires when you put the plugs in.

I would look at the engine bay in the dark to see if there is any evidence of arching

Well to start.. I had the water pump and timing done to the car. The shop messed it up and only timed the driverside and not the passenger side. They ran it till it smoked. had the timing off on the passenger side 2 teeth. I had it redone and I put Bosch +4 plugs in it with the same wires that where in it when the shop did the work. Now I am getting the misfire on 4,5,and 6. But the wires are sparking the plugs when I pull each wire and put a plug in it while running.

I did not see any arching in the dark.

Default bosch +4 have been known to cause problems for the 12V

try using NGK or AC Delco #9's. problem solved.

Default If it was the plugs wouldnt it do it on both sides and not just one side with just 4,5, and 6?

Wouldnt 1,2,and 3 also misfire?

Are they sure they didn't misalign the driver's side timing when they went to fix the passenger side? Seems odd that one bank would misfire shortly after having this work done, particularly given the problems you had.
Sounds to me like the shop might have some plaining to do. What do the other codes say?

I run Bosch Platinum 2 in my 30v @ 40k miles after having an "intermittent Cyl #1 misfire" problem. I ran a bottle of injector cleaner, swapped the plugs, all is good 50k miles and 3 years later... same plugs.

Default maybe the nicked your valves on that bank, that or they overheated them and they are not closing

all of the way now. I would ditch the platinum plugs regardless and run the OEM plugs.

Default Don't get in the zone. Misfires are a comon thing. Before I start pulling out plugs I would have..

someone with some Audi experience check it out first. It could of been a one time thing. Unless it's misfiring all the time I wouldn't bother right away. Erase codes, drive it for a while and have it retested.

Could just be bad gasoline.

Default I got rid of the Platinum +4 plugs and got NGK's

it is still misfiring. I was told that if the wire is sparking the plug when its pulled and not when it is in the motor then its not firing under conpression and that most likely the wires are bad. I am hopefully getting the new wires tomorrow.

Does this sound correct to any one??
