Default Estimate of service at an Audi dealership

I am curious to see what you guys think the final cost of these 4 services will add up to with labor costs at an Audi dealership on a 2001 A4 2.8:
1. Timing Belt
2. Water Pump
3. New Radiator
4. Oil Change

I am getting this all done and was quoted between $1500-2000

1. Why cant you change the oil by yourself? I have been doing my own maintenance for years and the 2.8 it the easiest oil change I have ever done! 2. Why a new radiator? 3. My stealership offered to do the belt and pump with 8 hrs labor for a total of 1300$ plus tax, personally I feel that is too time consuming, but a tech has to be able to do it faster than that

Default Alot. I got quoted $1200 from a dealer for the TB only, no water pump. Do it yourself for like $250

for the timing belt/water pump. I dont know what a radiator costs, but you'll have it off doing the belt anyway, so easy to just put the new one back on. I did it myself having done nothing but an oil change before hand. Not too tough, just need the right tools and a little gumption. Took me 10hrs. Dealer quotes 8hrs plus parts. Got my kit from ECS tuning. Good ppl. Taught me alot about the car.

Well, the oil change, never attempted to try changing it. I also like the fact that every oil change i get is documented and shows up on carfax. I check my VIN occasionally. Just like knowing that I have records of maintenece for resale sake. The radiator had a crack and I was loosing cooliant. My cooliant light came on mond-tues. Checked its level and I was very low. The water pump and timing belt i was gonna get done, because i have been reading the horror stories about them here on audiworld. My car has 61k miles so i def wanted to get that done

Default Well, unfortunatly, fancy documentation like that costs the dealer money, which is passed on to you

with a $1300 bill for doing things like that. I just keep the receipts for everything i buy for the car and call it good. If you dont want to do it yourself, dont be surprised when the dealer charges alot. Pretty buildings, shiny shop floors, and VAG brand tools cost alot. Maybe try a local VW or Audi shop, probobly get it done for less.

Just wanted to see if their estimate was what one would expect to pay at a dealer, for these services.

Default bribe one of the techs to do it on the weekend at the dealership for his hourly pay under the table

$25/ hour @ 6 hours = $150 labor, $250 for parts, total : $400

or at least thats what I did.

I'd pay $50 an hour if thats what it took. Thats still only $300 dollars for labor so $550 total which given the raping by most dealerships is one hell of a steal.

Default

I bet an independent shop would do it for less than 1/2 of that.
