I could only go 600 ft ,you know . earlier model before Vin split always the case.

Default rj-45.... is the name for the connector.. and did you check the ethernet card on your laptop

afterwards... I wonder what the 12V power did to it.... I hope you didn't fry the on board ethernet card....

Very unlikely considering computers also use 12V. Spec is I belive between 2.2V and 2.8V.

Default IIRC it's 5V or less TTL for ethernet, but they should have surge protection to some degree.

Then again what do I know, I have seen compters break for no reason and endure much worse than he did....
