Exhaust questions are fun for the whole family!

So. I've been kicking around exhaust ideas. The more I see the new A4's rolling around, the more I think I'd like to try a dual exhaust system. I was planning on getting my lowers painted anyway so I could just have another notch carved out for the second tip at the same time. My questions are these:
A - Is this even technically feasable to run a dual exhaust or should I just give up on the idea now? (98.5 1.8tqm in case anyone's forgotten)
B - I know aftermarket exhausts undergo testing and tuning to provide a good HP boost. Any idea if a decent custom exhuast can give me anywhere near the gains of a tuned system especially a dual)? If it's not looking at a marginal boost in performance, I'm not doing it. I'm not about to dump money into just slapping some mufflers on my car.
Thanks all!

Exhaust is damned expensive though and it only shows one can. Since they make one for it, it must be do-able, though. I bet I could get a custom system made for less money... Tips would look nicer, too. heheheh.
If I just got that rear end, would it look funny with painted stock lowers? Would it hang down further than the rest?
