Greetings--
The plastic trim at the bottom of the rear door of our '99 A4 is falling off. It appears that the channels that mate to the clips on the body have become brittle and have broken out.
What is the procedure for replacing this trim? Should I replace the clips, too? How do you remove the clips from the door panel and install the new ones?
Thanks,

the trim is like $30-34 from teh dealer. there is a screw towards the front of the car near the speaker from the inside that goes through the door into the trim. unscrew it, slide the rim off, clean up the door, clips are probably fine, if not replace them.. they just clip off/on. get new trim, slide it on, replace screw from the inside.

there is a single screw on the front inner corner of each door. You will likely need to replace it when you change out the door trim. Trims are $35 ish each for fronts.. a bit less for rears. They always rust out. I've posted part numbers so so many times.
rears are 8d0-853-969-b-01c and 970-b-01c.
odd = left

there is a screw on the inside of the door, near the hinges, unscrew and replace with new trim piece. they are like max 40$. clips are like 75 cents a piece. i think u need 7 or 8 so...its ur choice

you should pb blast/wd40, whatever you have (dont get it on your carpet because it will stain it) if it still wont back out you may have to rip the molding off of the car it will leave the compression fitting that the screw goes into then hold it from the outside with some pliars/visegrips and unscrew from the inside - second pair of hands might help as well. have fun - it should be easy to do, just go slow so you dont scratch anything up. if you do get the screw out nice and easy, these things slide off the clips, they dont pop off.
