Default Fading computer display...

My former '98.5 A4 had the fading problem with the computer display. I'm assuming that this was resolved by Audi at some point since I haven't seen a post about it in a while. Either that or everyone got used to it. Comments?

Default I just had my 00 instrument cluster replaced due to a fading trip computer display...

... There are a couple of other people on here too that have had recent problems. One person is on thier 4th display.

I made a few posts the other day wondering if there is a relation between dimmed dash lights and pre-mature failure of the instrument cluster display. I'm trying my new cluster with out dimming the panel lights. My old cluster, I dimmed them to about 90% of full brightness.

My '99 had the same problem (just before the warantee expired, WHEW) and was replaced by the dealer.

I always had mine on full brightness and it faded (usually when very hot or very cold).

Default So, as I understand it, the mileage gets reset to "0" with a new cluster correct?

How do they account for the difference?

I just brought mine in for the fading problem. When I give my car a rest then drive the car the LCD is perfect - the longer I run the car (even if I turn the LCD off) the more the LCD fades. It seems to be something electrical rather than the LCD itself. Also mu C-H gauge now only works about 50% of the time - the other 50% it's stuck on cold.

Default They should be able to set the mileage...

I had the cluster replaced on my M3 and the mileage was still correct.
