Hi all,
Recently, on my '00 A4 with 35K miles, I started getting a noise from the fan that sounds like it's hitting something. The tapping noise (like paper against the fan blades) comes from the dash vents, and is proportional to the fan speed.
Being out of warrantee, I loathe the cost of the dealer taking apart the dash.
Is it relatively easy for me to get to the fan myself to see if something's caught in it? If someone can provide some detailed instructions to getting to it, or advice, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.

The noise stops if I turn the fan off. And the tap-tap-tapping frequency is in tune with the fan speed, so it definetely seems like it's something in contact with the fan.
