If I had the money to waste on it I'd join one of those organizations which rent/lease cars based on a number of points calculated by the desireability/exclusivity/cost of upkeep on the car borrowed and on the probable demand for the car to be borrowed on a given day *holidays etc*.
I'd like to borrow an MG-B coupe with a rover V8... or a 2002 turbo or a MK1 GTI. I dunno something with a very different flavor and personality like Dungbeetle's mini (even if it is like a warm beer). I don't really care if I end up harboring hatred for the car so long as it is just a change for a day.
Anyways thats this week's frogblog. I think the boredom might subside once I have a 2.0 20v in my sedan. Or perhaps I'll just buy another old european car to play with. I doubt I'll ever been really content with anything completed.

I have been in the exact same place as you... here is what I found... I got totally bored with the audi. And as a result, I didn't want to drive it...
So one day I was trolling craigslist and found a 1985 VW Jetta listed for $400. I emailed the dude and I ended up buying it for $325. (paying for a car in 1 trip to the ATM rules).
I spent about a few hundred fixing the problems, replacing hoses and belts, etc and I drove it for like 10 months before I blew the front motor mount. Instead of just replacing the mount, I got an ABA block and a minorly worked head and megasquirt and I need to finish it up...
But I love driving that car. Sure it isn't as fast, but it is fun, and the weight factor is insane. And FWD has some challenges that you don't have in AWD. And the lack of power anything makes it more fun.
Added plus, when you get back in the audi, it is a rocket, since you acclimatize to the slower car. But, it also feels heavy as ****, and all your inputs are covered in molasses. And the cost of parts are insane vs. VW parts of that era.
So I have the Audi still, but it needs work. And I have the jetta, I need to finish sorting out the megasquirt. And I am shopping for another beater. Cars I am interested in this week... an 87 Mercedes 190 Turbo diesel list for $400 and a Porsche 924 gutted, recaro'd, and ready for track use, Sub $3500...
Who knows... but I do know when I get back in the audi, it is cool, but been there done that. I need to mix it up to keep the interest level high.
