a few posts down? do you have to get new brakes if you do a wheel upgrade i.e. 15" to 17"

Default a few posts down? do you have to get new brakes if you do a wheel upgrade i.e. 15" to 17"

or can you just use your stock / oem brakes?

You can use stock brakes, lots of people do.

thanks was just reading other peoples recs. and they stated shocks & springs, brakes, then whee

Default yea same question....

do most people upgrade suspension/brakes right away? or will i be ok with rims with stock suspension and brakes for a while? plan was is to buy rims, save money buy suspension.....save money....then brakes.

You can do that, Just most people on here prefer performance over looks, including me.

welcome, I'd do it in that order too, but there is no harm done if you do wheels first.

Default You only need to upgrade your brakes if you want to get better performance..

The better performance you'll get is mainly reduced or eliminated brake fade. You will also get better pedal feel from running better fluid and SS brake lines insted of the stock rubber ones.

Upgrading suspension and wheels won't make you NEED different brakes.. but if you track your car at all, it's HIGHLY recommended as the stock A4 brakes have major fade when you drive them hard.

However, upgrading your brakes (calipers and/or larger rotors) will make it necessary to increase the size of your wheels.

Default you can get the wheels, but it'll look like a SUV...

with 18s, the wheel gap's big...about a whole fist for sport suspension. that's why i rec. getting springs/shocks. But if you like the allroad look, go for it.
