Finally installed my Neuspeed SS kit.... impressions...
as others had reported, it's a royal bitch to install because most of the bolts are very hard to get to.
I highly recommend getting ball end hex keys. They are designed for applications where you can't get the hex key straight up and down in the bolt and have to access it from an angle. You'll need a 5mm and a 6mm. Sears (Craftsman) has them.
Another tool you'll need it a 10mm wrench. I picked one up that looks like a regular closed end box wrench except it has ratcheting action. This also helped in getting the bolts that hold up the housing loosened and retightened (mainly the two forward bolts that are inside the tunnel. The wrench is low profile so it clears the ceiling of the tunnel, and since it ratchets, you don't have to keep re-positioning it.
Finally, I HIGHLY recommend using a magnetic pickup tool. Get the flexible kind.. it's more versatile. It served two purposes... to retrieve any nuts or bolts that you accidentally drop, and BELIEVE me you WILL drop at least one down in there. Also, when re-installing the new kit, it is sometimes difficult to re-install some of the bolts and nuts because you can't get your hands in there. So I used the magnet to lower them into position.
I really like the feel of the kit but my only minor gripe is that on my OEM shifter, it was very evident when you were in neutral because the stick just sorta popped into neutral very easily. On the Neuspeed kit it's very tight so it is not quite as evident that you are in neutral. You don't really feel it "pop" out of gear as much as with the OEM shifter. It's a minor gripe and something I guess I'll just have to get used to.
