Default Firelli Tires

I have a 2003 A4 with the sports package and I have had to replace five tires so far. They keep getting these bubbles on the side wall that range from the size of an egg to a baseball. I have gone to Audi and STS and both said that they are from potholes, but I REALLY DON'T DRIVE ON BAD ROADS AND NEVER HIT ANYTHING REAL HARD-- LIKE A SEWER COVER OR ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE.

WELL, THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT IT IS GETTING EXPENSIVE. STS SAID THAT IT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE LOW PROFILE AND THE CAR IS HEAVY. aNY ADVICE??? kiRSTEN

Default It helps if you yell, it gets peoples' attention. Anyhow...

There has to be some kind of issue here with the tires. If you are not doing anything to cause the bubbles, speak with Pirelli. There should be a warranty booklet for the tires with your manual. Save all of your receipts as well. If all else fails, replace all your tires with a different make/model.

Default Pirelli?

That sounds like an issue with that batch of tires rather than the car. 5 bubbled tires over how long? Are you getting the tires from the same shop?

They ARE low profile and the car IS heavy, so best I can say is drive carefully. :-( Also, please keep the CAPS lock off. The 2003 A4 has a different forum, too, if you need more specific info in the future. This forum is for the '96-01 models. Check here. Good luck.

It's a Falken/Pirelli conglomerate.

Default What tire pressures were you running?

- How often were they rotated?
- At what point did you notice unusual wear?
- Were these tires replaced one at a time, in pairs or by the set of 4?

A bubble on the sidewall ususally indicates damaged cords caused by impact or defect. Underinflated or overinflated tires will cause premature wear making the tire more susceptible to damage.
