first problem with my audi...when i tilt the sunroof it makes a LOUD noise...(more) please help....

Default first problem with my audi...when i tilt the sunroof it makes a LOUD noise...(more) please help....
when i open or close it it makes a really really loud noise..im not sure if its the wind thing popping up or what but it didnt make it before...any ideas?

Default could be crap in the tracks causing it to stick, with the sunroof open and standing on the sills,
see if it's dirty, if not it could be the drive motor or a variety of things.

Default What does the noise sound like? Crunching glass/plastic?
If so, the plastic track/rail has broken and is getting crushed by the sunroof.

it sounded like a rock hit my car...like i seriously jumped...how can i tell if its the track?

Default Grease it up man, its probabaly dry.
Its a moving part that relies on the track to be lubricated to open and close properly. Keep it lubed!

Default i have a problem with my roof as well...
it opens closes on its own... intermitantly (sp) lol its quite funny...

Replace the plastic tracks. I just had them replaced and my noises are gone. $65 part.

Default kewl! music to my ears. I cracked a track and have been dreading having the stealership
repair it. Is it a DIY job? do you happen to have the part number(s)?

Probably the track. It is fairly easy to see when the roof is open.
