Default Fix problem on Audi A4 1,6 -98 AHL. Speed sensor G28

Hello Just like to add some info. About the Speed sensor G28..

I had an Audi in whith a Speed sensor G28 problem.

I have been reading some on this forums and it all says that if the speed sensor G28 is broken the car dont start. If the car starts it is not the speed sensor even if it sjows a error code. This is not right on all cars.

On this Audi A4 1,6L AHL it work fine to drive but it just got to 5000rpm then dropt down and come back to 6000 and droping down again. And it did not have the right power in any RPM. I even took out the speed sensor G28 and the car started fine any way. So even if the car starts it can still be this sensor that is bad.

After i cheeked the sensor whith a multimeter it workt fine when it was coold but when i worm it up some it stopt working.

So for you that get the same problem even that the car starts it can still be the Speed sensor that is bad. This Car works grait now when i put in a new from my old Engine..

Have a good day.. And sorry for the bad english ..

Default That was easier to read than some other posts lately

I'm glad info for the euro engine codes is starting to trickle in now.

I vote this be added to the B5 FAQ.

guys... i owe a lot to this forum. have an o1 2.8 quattro vin aeb. car starts when cold but when it gets to operating temp, car shuts down and wont start till after around an hour. stuck my mt2500 scanner and it read aG28 code but i was wondering why the mil light stayed off. soon as it started back up, i monitored the data and there it was, rpm according to dash was 720-750 and the scanner was reading 2000rpm. this means the ecu is reading 2k while the actual rpm was something else. since this is my very first audi, i prowled around your forums and the G28 issue was all over the forums. this gave me the confidence to replace the G28 and that did the trick, car fixed. info here on the board really helped me out especially since the sensor's ressistance was up to spec(850) bentley says its supposed to be around 750-1000ohms. more power to audi world
