Default Fixed first?

'01 1.8T 86K. According to mechanic I need. 1. cv boot torn = 410.
2. front brakes low = 630.
("not that bad,but will need soon"
3. cam adjuster = 1500.
In what order should I get this work done.

Does this sound reasonable? What are the causes of these reapirs? Just wear 'n tear?
Thanks for any input.

Default Re: Fixed first?

i'm no an expert at all..but 630 seems overpriced for front brakes...by about 400 dollars?

i paid 230 for new front pads and rotors installed 2 weeks ago.

Default first off, never go back to that mechanic again

he diagnosed your problems great, now go somewhere else cause youre going to get ripped off.

do the CV boot first, then the brakes then the cam adjuster

Default CV boot repair should be less than half that.

The boot repair kit is under $20 and its less than two hours time.
I'd be willing to bet that if you pull the wheel off and look at your pads you have plenty of pad left too. Your mechanic needs a new boat.
