FMIC question??

FMIC question??
The FMIC covers the radiator. To me I would think that this would have some negative effects on engine cooling....especially on a race track. What do you guys think, does it make any difference?

Intercoolers are just another radiator... remember you still have the condenser blocking
the radiator... the intercooler does not inhibit too much air flow into the radiator.. besides it doesn't block the whole radiator just the lower portion.

Re: FMIC question??
From what I've "read"(no personal experience) most FMIC are finned so that air flows through easily so that the radiator isn't restricted too much.
Although I'm sure air is restriced. Many people seem to run them and some have reported that the engine oil temps increase. I'm guessing that is from the small K03/K04 turbo's making up for pressure loss from the IC. And probably from the radiator being blocked too. Who knows?

because I study performance parts...
what does a radiator do... it channels air that is coming towards the car when it is in motion. The flowing air goes through the thin wafer like lines that run verticle the radiator cooling the fluids. Intercoolers are the same way. Air flows through the channels and cools the air that is going into the intake manifold. This will bring the charged air down a few degrees instead of a direct line from turbo to intake where the turbo does happen to generate heat. So now why would you think that it isn't like a radiator?
