My lamps are powered off the park lamps circuit ,switch lighting power from a tap to the rear fog switch, and its nice to have the extra light length on highway. I know its illegal but I can switch them on anytime with the parking lamps so I can run them without headlamps.

I highly suggets you upgrade to ecodes, even though the supply and demand is high.
Matter of fact.... I know you are on the PNW forum, STG II S4 just upgraded to ecodes on his B5, you should ask him if he will sell his stock S4 headlights. They will look MUCH better than the lights you already have on, very easy install also. do it.
