Default Footwell light no workie, but "dome" light works fine

Passenger side footwell and red door marker light both stopped working. Swapped footwell bulbs with driver's side; driver's still works, passenger side still doesn't. Doesn't seem to be the door switch, as the interior "dome" light still triggers with the passenger door just fine. I haven't tried replacing the red door marker light yet, as that appears to require removal of the door panel. So, are the footwell and door lights wired in series or something? Any input as to why both lights would stop working simultaneously? Thanks!
