... I had to scrape 1/4 to 1/2" of ice off my car, broke one scraper, but once I got in the car, all was well. Thanks quattro.

What snow tires are you using? Have you ever used a M+S rated tire in the snow? My wife and I both bought new A4 1.8Ts this past fall. Mine has the Sport Package (Dunlop SP8000s), my wife's car does not. These are two different cars in the snow. I've had several near misses on just an inch or two of snow. Help!
P.S. I love this car!

... but any snow tire I'm sure would do fine. Lots of people here have the Blizzaks or Dunlop winter tires. I got my snow tire package from my dealer. That way I knew there was no problems. I will never drive in winter without snow tires.

In my opions - those so called "All-Seasons" are never great in all seasons. I switched to summer sport tires on the standard rims and snow tires on a spare set of rims that I interchange per season. On my 87' 5000S Quattro I was running Nokias Happepelitas (spelling??)- great in deep snow 6-12" but noisy on dry pavement. Currently running Blizzaks on my 97' A4Q - find them ok for average snow 6-9" and quiet on the dry.
Get proper snows all around - it's like having summer traction when the going gets sloppy.
