Default Fresh Dyno results - shocked at 40% whp loss because of Quattro...

'97my Audi A4 1.8TQMS with 208k kms = 130k miles, stock dyno:

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/78531/dynostockaaa.jpg">

Beautiful curves (i mean the dyno, got complimented from the tech guy;

ENGINE OUTPUT: 159 PS
WHEEL OUTPUT: 94 PS
MAX TORQUE: 208 NM = 153 lbs/ft

Chipped (by a local tuning co.) dyno:

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/78531/dynochippedbbb.jpg">

ENGINE OUTPUT: 180 PS
WHEEL OUTPUT: 120 PS
MAX TORQUE: 273 NM = 201 lbs/ft

What drives me nuts that 33-40% HP is lost from the engine to the wheels! Is this normal?? How can this be helped? I have a brand new O2 sensor and MAF (the updated version) and my car stil runs at 19,6 MPG no matter what i do, city+highway combined. Any advice is welcome (and i won't shoot back). The only mod so far is the chip. My plan is sport filter, hi flow cat, militec-1. And nothing works, then buying a TDI (would be sad).

I'm also attaching the turbo boost chart, for me it seems it holds boost pretty well, let me know what you see in it (last column is boost):

Thanks.

Default Where is the dyno test of that engine out of the car?

How did you come up with the drivetrain losses?

Default Try changing your gearbox and rear diff fluids to Redline.

I know that it helped get some HP on a Turboed M3. See Europeancarweb.com... under project cars. Anyhow I have the stuff in my car and love it...

Default The tech guy told me on switchable 2wd/4wd off-roads he sees 20% loss in 2wd and up to 50%(!) in 4wd

mode. Still, i wonder how is this with other 1.8TQ owners.

Default I'd dyno it elsewhere

quattro IV is usually good for 25-28% loss... its not linear tho... the percentage varies by speed and by gear etc.
