You cant really say for race cars cause depending on the track the top speed changes, long gears ...
short gears etc... it all depends on the track
for formula ferrari adds in a seventh gear sometimes on the longer tracks which greatly increase the top end

I think he was puffing quite a bit...
That's 248mph, and that's a helluva lot of MPH for "only" 610hp. Those aerodynamics on the car that help it pull 4 g's in corners also create drag that limit its top end.
But as far as acceleration is concerned, 2000 lbs., 610hp = 3.3 lbs/hp. That's probably going to be good for about a mid-10 second 1/4 mile at 145mph, based on a 3300 lb., 750hp Winston Cup car doing turning a 11.0@142 (4.4 lbs/hp) and a 1550 lb., 700hp IRL car turning a 10.0@152 (2.2 lbs/hp), and a 0-60 of just under 3 seconds.
