I have a good question, I drive an A4 with Euro Plates on the front, I being thinking, if I customize a plate with the same registration as the American one. Will that be okay?
I just got pulled over this past saturday for those plates, and today at my school I saw a dude with Japanese plates on his car. That on the front matched the registration on his California plates in the back.
If someone knows a cop, can you ask

A front Euro plate with your California plate number and the abbreviation "CAL" for the state would still violate 4852 which dictates the size of the plate. That said, my cousin's S4 with front euro plate has his actual plate number and CA as the state abbreviation, and he's had it for 2 years now. He's been pulled over twice for it. He told the CHP that the original plate interferes with the airflow, and was told "Well, that makes sense" and they let him go. That's just one data point in the Del Mar, San Diego area. The risk is yours to take.
