Default Re: The 02 Tip was a loaner overnight while the dealer

fixed a small oil leak around the valve cover...It (02) was a nice car indeed...but it was damm slow as well..I can see why they need to be chipped..As for tires..I have rotated mine and I should get close to 30K out of the OEM dunlop SP9000's.. A front-trac might be traction challenged when its wet...but when its dry with practice one should be able to get a good launch...over at the vortex plenty of stage III GTI's seem to get going..well enough rambling...we just got sent home 59 minutes, not a hour earlier...

Default Personally I would not buy an Audi without quattro

The domination in the touring car world proves that it not a feature that you would only need in foul weather situations.

Having recently taken mine out onto the race track and driven the car at it's limits (or at least mine) I could absolutly see the advantage quattro has even on dry roads.

There is no doubt in my mind that no matter what the situation the quattro is the best handling car.

I'm not a quattro snob. I don't even have quattro.

Default it would just spin the wheels.

let me know when you put in on. we'll both go out together in dry, wet, and snowy conditions. then we'll see which car beats which. that couple of pounds you save on weight isnt going to help when you're spinning the tires at a dead stop.

Default I have a FT, & it handles quite well, but ....

it couldn't hold a candle compared to my 3000gt's handling on it's best day, even w/ sport mode off on the ECS. And it sure couldn't hang with it in speed. But the A4 is a softer ride.

Default ok.. just a bad comparison then.. :-)

02 A4 1.8T Tip Quattro is SOOO slow. I test drove one and couldn't believe how much slower the tip + extra weight was than my car in stock form.

Default Re: But great burn-outs..well considering on one has a Stage III FWD yet...

Lets just wait and see how they go..who knows maybe it will work fine..just think about 210 pounds less weight and a lot less drive line loss...launches might be a problem, but once you get hooked up it would leave some people in the rear view mirror..
If I was not buying a condo in DC next month I would get the stage III..oh well

Default I have a FWD and wished it was a quattro in foul weather but...........

I would probably want a RWD over quattro, too bad that's not an option in the A4 =(
