i have a 2001 a4 2.8 quattro.. its got 297k miles on it.. runs great.

but lately im having this clunking when i turn the wheel sharply.. from the front..

i replaced the axle on it prob 70k miles on it.. i dont think its the a arms..

is it some ball joint or hub????

sometimes on the highway at around 50-70 it will get crazy vibration from the wheel almost feels like axle.. but if i press on the brakes tight.. it will go away..

any ideas?? thank u

Check the wheel bearing. jack up the front end leave the tire on. Grab the tire and see if you can rock it back n forth, or up and down.

If there is any loseness i bet thats your problem.

yes and no. If they get loose enough then can clunk. Second thought have you checked your tie rod ends?

my car had bad tie rod ends and it clunked on rough roads and it made the car have a terrible shimmy at highway speeds
