Default Re: Boy...that sure does look like fun.

yes the symptoms you described are the same as mine were. how was i able to tell on the play.. well mine was really bad where the wheel would wobble even nonrotationaly sortof from pass to driver wise..which i thought was wrong so i got under it and found a spot that seamed to seperate looked different than driver side.. just compared the two sides.. and that one looked different as you saw in the photo..ok hub shark i did buy it..
ball joint tool came from here...http://www.zelenda.com/
and hub shark came from here..
http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/OLD-7325.html it was a $450 tool for $257.. only way to do it unless you want to remove your hub from the car.. then you have to go to a machine shop[ and have them press the old bearing out and the new bearing in with the hub shark no alignment is needed because you dont have to disconnect the whole hub..i was useing my bentley manual and the crappy instructions that came with the hub shark... let me know if you have any other questions hope that helps not shure if i hit all of your questions..<ul><li><a href="http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/OLD-7325.html">http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/OLD-7325.html</a</li></ul>

Default Yeah, there's some play in it.

Jacked it up with the wheel a few inches off the ground and used the rod from my jack as a lever under the tire....probably 1/4-1/2", not as much as I would've thought. And to confirm, I tried the driver's side and got no play. So now, when I have more time, I just need to pinpoint the wiggle I guess. Fun fun fun....

Default :( .. doesn't take much play to translate into the wobblies. Here's hoping it's a joint and not the

bearing. Bearing looks to be a PITA ..

Default Yeah, no kidding...

I did notice my TRE boot has separated, but I watched closely as I wiggled the wheel and that doesn't seem to be the source of any play (but it will be soon...if I don't replace it). Plus, I've had this wobbling problem for a few months probably and the torn TRE boot is recent. Argh, add it to the list....
