Default front wheel wobbles with lugs tight and car jacked up. wheel bearing? advice needed........

I finally jacked the front end up today, trying to find out what's going on with a clunking noise coming from my front passenger wheel. With all lugs still tight, i can wobble my wheel side to side about 1/16th of an inch, and it produces the clunking noise. Is this consistent with a wheel bearing going bad? I went ahead and took the wheel off and I can wobble the hub / rotor side to side. All control arms seemed to be tight, without any play and bushings looked fine. After STFA, it seems lots of people have had wheel bearings fail ....so if any of you could comment and help any, that would be great. TIA

Default Did you check your tie rod ends? Those most definitely go out on A4's...

I just spent 200 bucks for JUST the two new ends :/

BTW, that will cause the wheel to wobble from side to side as that what connects the wheel to the steering rack. Both of my fronts had about ~1/2 inch of play each way.

Default i had my rear wheel bearing go out (m)

it sounded like a jet aircraft in the back seat, then it progressed quickly to metal on metal clinking noises when rolling, and i could not drive the car due to excessive terrible grinding noises. Also there was alot of side to side play in it. Got flatbed'd to dealer, replaced wheel bearing under warranty.

In the front how do you know if its not play in some steering component that gives you the wobble?
