Default Frozen Parking Brake

I think that my parking brake is frozen. When I released the parking brake, it felt fine, but I couldn't move. When I tried to put it back on it sort of felt loose, like the cable was stuck somewhere. Is it possible for the brake line to freeze? What do I need to do to fix it? I can't have an immobile car all winter!

Default step 1 don't use parking brake in winter, step 2 crawl under car and spray cables with de-icer...

at the calipers.

Default Do what I do: carry a long screwdriver to release it manually

or, when it gets cold, don't use the hand brake.

Default it's possible the arm on the caliper for the cable is sticking. If that's the case...

spray some WD-40 or PB Blaster where the arm is mounted to the caliper and smack it back and forth with the hammer. When mine was sticking, the brake handle was loose about 1/2 way down like yours.

Default I had the same problem, couldn't fully fix it with WD40

I ended up replacing the calipers (about $105 a piece from Autohausaz.com).

Default I didn't fully fix it until I went apesh!t on it one day. I must have hit it back and forth 20 times

I was pissed that it was being such a pain in the ***. Hasn't happened again in over 2 years now.
