Default Fuel fillter

Hi Folks

Can anyone give me a brief outline on how to change the fuel filter on a 97 A4 1.8T?

Thanks in advance

Default for quattro, www.robsaudiworld.com; for FWD, there aren't any, however,

the fuel filter should be in plain site and easy to change. Look down stream from the fuel tank, and you should spot it (follow the fuel lines).

Default How to R&R fuel filter

Put rear of car up on jack stands.
Remove two bolts from straps holding tank to bottom of car.
Using a 2x4 or similar soft wedge device, pry the tank down away from the chassis to gain access to the bracket holding the filter to the tank.
Get a large drain pan under the filter.
Unbolt the filter from the bracket and then remove the bolts securing the banjo fitings at both ends of the filter.
Be cautious here because fuel might go everywhere!
Make sure your replace the copper sealing washers with new ones or else you will have leaks.
Good Luck.

Default Just changed mine last weekend. The tech article is good but

make sure you have the ratchet wrench and the socket. Otherwise you're stuck with using an allen key to get the clamp bolt loose, and that will take you an hour in a very awkward position.

Default I used Mike Staley's writeup...

using the dealer's lift we swapped filters in about 20 minutes.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/722730.phtml</a
