Default Fuel Octane

I bought my A4 early this week and I'm still at about 1/2 of a tank. I'll have to fill up soon and I was wondering what octane/grade of gasoline you guys put in your car?

Default Fual Octane depends on altitude

I live in Denver and reg ul is 85 RON, pemium is about 91 RON.
At this high of altitude (5280 ft), the vapor pressure does not nesesitate the higher octanes at low altitude. I learned about all this in my Combustion Engineering class in college.

I curnetly have a 89' Ford Probe with 180k miles on it. I have only maybe had 3-4 tanks of premium in it. In fact it gets better millage on reglar grade. I have been all the way up to 14,100 feet with the car and have never had any ping.

I suspect though that with the Audi probably having a higher compression ration that you would need the high octane/premium. It's down to $1.60/gal here now!
