I've a '96 Audi A4 2.8
I need a full brake job according to the dealer,
ie rotors, calipers, pads, shoes, etc.
they gave me an estimate of approx. $1000 for front and rear. does that sound right ?
my 90k mile service is also coming up, any idea how much and what is incuded ?
any advise would be helpful.
thanks

....they aren't exactly a wear item (AFAIK). Perhaps the piston seals are toast?....did they give you a reason why they want to replace the calipers? I'd expect them to last a lot longer than 90k.

are u serious?....Dude, for $1000 they are doing U standing up with your pants around your ancles.
(my opinion)
U got 90K i think is time to aband the Audi dealership service, is just NOT worth it. MIO.
U best bet is going to a Foreign car repair shop and getting this work done. They have better shop labor 50-55hr and they will be able to give different types of brands of parts that u wanna use/pay.

My dealer said that a brake job, all 4 corners, rotors and pads, is about $1100. In parts alone, it is 4x$120 or so for rotors, and about $70 for the rear pads and about $100-$160 for the front pads depending on whether or not you have the wear sensor.
as for your 90k service, if you have already had the timing belt replaced, then it is not a big deal, just an oil change and misc things here and there. If you haven't had the timing belt changed, then expect to add about (sit down) about another $800-$1000 in service.

As the posts below indicate, new calipers are suspect. Rotors and pads are normal. This may be an indication that the dealer enjoys taking people for a ride!
