Default Gas attendant put 3 gal of 87 in my car yesterday have a few questions--------->

I caught this and finished with 9 of 92. I have a GIAC 1bar, so I added an octane booster. I was in Oregon and was about to drive home which is 400 miles away; needless to say I went through that tank. Then the GF did the same thing when I was taking a **** once home and filling up for the week. The only problem is she put about 8gal so I topped off with 91 and once again added booster. I actually had kick **** gas milage(31mpg) the whole drive home with an avg speed of 76mph. I heard no pinging and my torque seemed better than usually. I don't think this(*** octane and booster) should be a problem, but I could be wrong. Any feedback would be appriciated.

All the gas I used was Shell so it has Techron. Noted about the proper notation for G/F

Thats what I figured. I think the booster probably did some cleaning and put the octane at 94.

Default yeah i had a dealership do my fuel pump then filled me up with 87 octane on a 93 only octane chip...

i told them that I had a chip...but they only put in 3 or 4 gallons of it. I look at the bill and it showed they filled me up with gas at 87 octane...and I was ready to kill them...the car ran like crap...I thought it was broke...wasn't boosting right...and then as soon as I got the 93 in and filled it up it ran smooth again. but the whole time i was like WTF, I was gonna march the car right back over there?! then I looked on the bill, limped over to the gas station, put in the 93 at it was a lot better.

Default some 1 point octane boosters actually mean 0.1

So, if you fill up with 92 octane with the booster, you're only at 92.1, not 93.

I would've just stopped at paint supplier and put in a gallon of Toulene (straight 114 octane). that's what some of us do for the track to make 100 octane with the right ratio. Or, putting in the T with 100 octane race gas to utilize the 104 program.

Default I've had that happen once...

The 12v is obviously more tolerant to octane differences than the 1.8t, but even with the several gallons of 87 that he put in before I noticed, I topped off with 93 and had zero problems. Needless to say, I glance back and make sure the attendants are using the proper nozzle now. I miss being in NY for school and pumping my own...

Default Almost happend to me when I lived in Oregon...

You can't pump your own gas there...it is illegal! lol That may seem cool in some respects, but not if the attendant puts the wrong octane in your beloved A4! You have to watch those guys. I would run that gas out as soon as possible. I imagine it will not hurt anything. I wouldn't bother adding anything to it. Like I said...just run it out. Don't let it sit in there for a long period of time.

fyi octane booster in a can, doesn't really help. Toulene is better/cheaper
