Default With gas prices so high....

could I save money by buying 89 octane gas and adding an octane booster? I have a chipped A4.Do you guys recommend octane booster?
The bottle is about $2 and I'd save about $4 with the lower octane fuel.

Default No. That stuff is junk, and it certainly isn't cheap enough to offset the gas costs

when you factor in addt' maintenance costs you'll need.

Default is saving 4 bucks really worth it?

which engine do you have? I've used 89 before. The car didn't blow up. But I try not make it a habit. I just don't see how saving 200 dollars a year in gas money is really worth it.

Default I dont understand the mindset of some people

trying to save a few dollars by using cheap gas (the wrong fuel in this case) and or not changing the oil at realistic intervals.

How much do you actually stand to save by doing that to an A4? My experience so far leads me to believe that it will eventually be more expensive to run crap gas and not change the oil at realistic intervals with proper oil/filter & technique.

But what do I know.

Default Re: With gas prices so high....

You will spend *more*. You need a lot of octane boost to go from 87 to 93.
