Default Gathering TB parts: Can I run preston coolant or G12 only? Should I also replace the...

tensioner lever and timing belt dampener? Or is it ok to just replace the rollers?

My car is a 1998 2.8Q with 150,000miles, its due for its second TB.... Hoooray!!! Decided to do the TB now since my water pump is leaking like a river....

There are so many different kits... I really liked the Blauparts.com kit but it does not include the tensioner lever and TB dampener.... Fun fun gathering these parts.

3.) Is replacing the cam seals and the front main seal a pita compared to the entire job?

4.) Does the cam bar locking tool from Blauparts fit the 2.8 and 2.7t?? My dads 2.7t needs to be done.

TIA

Default I would skip the Prestone and replace the tensioner lever and the dampener as well as...

...the 4 cam seals, 2 cam plugs and two cam adjuster seals.
For the amount of effort involved in this job versus the few extra dollars for the additional parts, why not do it completely?

Yes, the pin and bar fit both engines.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2817118.phtml">Very recent (if you STFA)</a></li></ul>

Plastic impeller no? Total skip if so. What about the gasket? Paper or metal?

Peak Global is a good call. G-12 is the only coolant I would say to skip. Generic Dex is the same $7

You're lucky then. Lots of people have the paper gasket fail 10-15k miles out brand new.

Fail. Especially if he has a water pump with a metal impeller.
