Default Gear selector on trip computer display is acting weird

After re-connecting the battery a few times my trip computer has decided that I am in every gear at once:

How do I fix this?

TIA.

Default Uh oh, spaghetti-o's...

Transmission is in limp mode. Get a VAG-COM and pull the codes.

In the mean time, you can't drive you car.

"Can't" or "shouldn't"? I don't have access to a VAG-COM, will need to have it towed to my mech.

More shouldn't. It's in limp mode right now.

Default Check your local forum for someone who can help with VAG-COM.

If you need parts, I have both the Transmission control unit and a complete trans that will fit your car.

Good luck.

Default Any guesses why it would do that, just sitting there in the garage?

I was connecting/reconnecting the battery while testing the HID setup when it happened.

Default Which means he can 'limp' it to his shop. Granted, he'll only have 4th gear...

and no TC lock.

Default For some reason, your car put itself into limp home mode.. have you started it and run the selector.

through the gears? It might clear itself up, it might need to have a code cleared.

Default I've started it, put it in R and backed out, then put back into D and pulled back in... no change.

I haven't tried driving it, however.

Default My mech is ~35mi away accesible only by freeway... doable in 4th.

Tranny n00b question: TC lock?
