General Exclaim UHP tires-
anyone have these on their car?
I put them on and the road noise is very loud- hate it-
I have 235/40/18
anyone recommend any other tires that the road noise is quiet-

I recently bought Nexen N3000's.
So far, I can't complain. I don't have enough miles on them yet for a good review, but they're quiet and cheap. I was putting too many miles on my car to buy anything expensive, so I thought I'd try them. They're 225/45ZR17-91W.
BTW, I had Avon's just prior to these and hated them for the same reason you hate the UHP's.

I had Nexens on old car and did not like them at all. They were not very grippy,
and definantly were the weakest link in suspension/handling department. They always felt very unstable in the rain too. Easily hydroplane and did not corner well in the rain.. But like you said, they were extremely cheap and otherwise decent. Even treadwear etc.

Were they the same model? They got great reviews on tire-easy.com.
Better than some big name brands which is why I chose them (that and the price). If so, oh well, they'll be toast in a year and I'll try something else.

yeah they are N3000. glad you have liked them, just saying I would not (and am not)
buying them again. Probably gonna get Kumho's when I have 500 bucks to throw at tires/getting wheel fixed.

Haven't said I liked them yet, jury's still out.
I just said I can't complain so far and that they're quiet. I'll post my impressions after another couple thousand miles.
The only tires that I've ever really liked were Michelin Pilots. I've also had Dunlops, Avons (M550) and Khumos (ASX) and I wouldn't buy any of them again.

Well at least you have had a bunch of different tires and can compare them. I am looking at Kuhmo
SPT, not the ASX. Have heard the ASX's suck, but that the SPT's are really good (obviously only for summer).
