Default Get Ready, here's a real DUMB question...

If I leave my cell phone charging in my car for a couple of days (phone is "ON" and taking messages), should I worry about draining my battery dead? I'm talking about 2-3 days here. Any bright ideas as to how long it would take for a cell phone to drain the battery enough that it won't start?

If it helps, cell phone is Touchpoint dual band and YES, I do know that the phone will still take messages even when it's "OFF" -- just a hypothetical question that I know belongs in the off-topic forum (sorry, Ray Calvo)

Default Not a problem....

You won't have a problem with your phone draining your car battery. Look at it this way. How big is the battery in your phone? How big is the battery in your car? Your car battery should be able to store enough energy to charge 100+ cell phones. If the phone is plugged in for days, it won't matter because it will only drain enough of the car battery to charge the phone once, then it will trickle charge the battery. If your phone takes messages when it's off that is because your service provider is actually taking the message. It then downloads to your phone when you turn it on.

Default I wouldn't worry about... You should have months of standby...

The dual band denso uses the Qualcomm MSM3000 chip which has a very low battery drain when in digital (CDMA) standby mode. With good coverage it should be about 130 hours with the standard Li-ion battery (3.6V at .95 Amp/hours). Add a car battery (typically 12V at 30-40 Amp/hours) and you should have months of standby. Even if the phone switched to analog mode you should still have weeks of standby.
