Getting windows tinted tomorrow. Questions...
I'm getting the Madico metallic, and it comes with a 5 year warranty. They want 50 dollars more for the lifetime warranty. Is it worth it? What could go wrong after 5 years with the Madico? It's already guaranteed to not turn purple, so...?
Thanks for any helpful input.

what madico? is that a metallic tint your getting?
because if it's not, it WILL turn purple.
$50 for lifetime waranty? If you have to pay EXTRA for a warranty, then it's simply a warranty the shop is providing I'd say. If your paying $50 and getting a different line of tint, then its another story.
The tint should have a lifetiem warranty if its good.. Llumar offers it on their mid and high grade tints.

Hmm. Yes, it's metallic, the 35%.
The installer is telling me it has a 5 year warranty. Pay 50 dollars extra for lifetime. I'll see if Madico has a web page and what they say re: warranty.
Many thanks!

sounds like the $50 is a shop warranty, not a tint warranty..
It's possibly madico only offers 5 years against bubbling, cracking, peeling, fading, which to me means it won't last over 5 years, if that long.
So the shop is counteracting, offering you a lifetime for $50, which means if a piece or all of it goes bad, they'll redo the entire car, which your paying, what, $150-200 for, for $50. Essentially, that's one way to look at it.
If your not keeping this car forever, I'd skip it. You can always just rip the **** off if it goes bad when its time to sell the car.

For those interested, Madico gives 7 yrs on metallic tint.
I'm planning on keeping the car 10+ years, so I guess I'll pay extra. Kinda sux, though. Maybe I can haggle a little.
About taking it off: I thought about that - they said 10 dollars a window for removal.

i have tint on my cars and one time i needed it to be replaced it started to peel
and the tint shop just billed Lumar, the maker of the tint. I don't know why they would want $50 bucks sounds stupid they should warranty it anyway. I don't think i would waste my money because 5 years is a long time and if ya and its realitively cheap so....
