GIAC chip for 2001.5 Audi A4 1.8tqms with the socket, and I put the stock back in for dealer.....
and I also buy a VAG tool to clear the ECU codes, then I should never have a problem right? ie. dealer will be able to flash program the stock chip and they will have no reaseon to ever open up the box. So it costs $750 to be totally stealth and never have to worry about warranty issues? ($200 VAG tool and $550 GIAC chip with socket).

Not true on both counts.
APR's chip does not throw a false code; love to know where you heard new rumor. Both chips are identifiable by opening an ECU, as both are on boards that stand out. Hard to miss. Addtionally, pulling the ECU will throw a power DTC, and is easily recognizable to a Tech. Lastly, using a vag-com to erase a code is not foolproof, as a shop code is stored everytime the ECU is modified (as in clearing a code). Vag com and VWTools both have well known shope code signatures that give them away, unless you programmed your Vagcom with a valid shop code sequence.
