Default GIAC introduces Flashing and Switching for the nDBW B5 A4 - Waterfest Specials!!!! (updated)

GIAC software for non drive-by-wire 1.8T and 30 valve 2.8L A4s is now OBD2 port flashable! In addition to convenient, fast and reliable flashing, GIAC is proud to announce full switching capabilities for the non drive-by-wire 1.8T ECUs as well (2.8L will be available soon). Our basic pump gas software will now have options that are switchable on the fly that include 100 octane performance, stock, valet and kill modes. There will be two switching options to change programs with. The first is our Handheld Flashloader Switcher, which enables the user to switch on the fly without the need for a laptop on hand. A second option is our software switcher which will be downloadable on the GIAC website shortly. This software requires a computer and an OBD2 cable connection (vag-com or similar that has a K-Line functionality). At this time, the software switcher will only be functional via a USB cable (<B>EDIT: Handhelds WILL be available at Waterfest and are NOW available for order at all GIAC dealers</B>, *NOTE: nDBW cars use a special handheld, they are not compatible with all GIAC handhelds*). This will later include serial cables as well.

Flashloaded software and all of the options will be available on-site at Waterfest 14 at an introductory MSRP of $300.00 for the non drive-by-wire 1.8T and $250.00 for the non drive-by-wire 30 valve 2.8L pump gas programs! An additional 10% off will be available on all of the optional switching modes we have available. If you are one of the few who does not have GIAC software, it is time to get flashed!

For current customers who wish to upgrade from their socket files to the newly upgrade flash files, they can do so with GIAC ECU Service found here: http://www.giacusa.com/customer_ecu_service.php. Please note, as a manufacturer, we do not sell to the public and all new flashes will still need to be purchased from one of our many great authorized dealers. ECU Service is for existing GIAC users only.

We currently have K03 and K04 (5 bar and PC16) software available.

Software for the following ECU part numbers will be available at Waterfest:
1.8T ECUs 1997- 1999.5 ECUs

8D0907557N
8D0907557M
8D0907557P
8D0907559
8D0907559C

30 VALVE 1998-1999.5 ECUs

4D0907551AH
4D0907551A
4D0907551H

Additionally, here are the MSRP prices for the programs we offer in addition to the pump gas programs:

100 OCT MSRP: $100.00
VALET MSRP: $50.00
STOCK MSRP: $50.00
KILL (security mode) MSRP: $50.00
Flashloader MSRP: $150.00

Again, all will be 10% off at Waterfest. Dealers on site will be installing for free! (is it vB yet? :-P)

Default The update itself is free, we simply charge labor to remove the socket and install a flash chip

Currently, the bill rate is $100.00 plus return shipping. This is subject to change.

Default How about the Mark 4 GTI VR6 12V?

I initially chipped it at Waterfest 9 in 2003, and its a socketed GIAC ECU done by AWE Tuning. Got 100 octane programming for that? If so it may be worth it for me since I track a lot....

Default so if we send you an ecu with a socket and a couple of chips (different programs)

you'd convert it to flash for $100? what do we need to switch programs on DBW?

Default Why should a customer pay for update/changes to use current software?

If the current chip costs $495 installed, and they paid $495 installed years ago, then it should be free. Otherwise, you're charging them $595 total to get what a current customer is getting for $495.

Not a fair way to treat "old" customers, especially since it is those customers that made GIAC what it is today.
