Yesterday I installed GIAC K04 software and a 5.0 bar FPR in my 2000 A4. I got the K05 program from AWE which runs 22 pounds of boost.
This software surges like crazy between 2000-3500 RPM-Is this normal for GIAC K04 software? I have all new vaccum lines and a hyperboost DV, so no boost leaks anywhere. I will say that this software is very fast but not very driveable. Also with this chip my car has a hard time starting. I thought that this was supposed to be the updated GIAC version that took care of the surging problems from the previous K31 version for MY2000 cars.
I just put my APR chip back in and the car runs great, no surging, very smooth, and no problems with starting the car.
Is there any proven fix for the surging? Otherwise I will probably send my ECU back to GIAC and run the APR.-Thanks in advance.

"be aware that some tuners adjust the wastegate rod to their software's specifications. so slapping in a generic k04-15 may or may not work "ok" with the software you are running." from another post.

it doesn't have enough fueling in its maps to accomodate for a k04. eventually you will run too lean up top and blow your engine.
some claim to run the k04 w/the apr and no problems. but i wouldn't chance it.
if you are going to do it, at least get a boost controller and limit the boost.
