1999 A4 1.8TQMS 20,000 miles
I have been having a tough time getting into 2nd gear ever since I have got the car (now has 20K on it)
The dealer has a new clutch ready to install into my car (how much of the total clutch mechanism I don't know)
Do you think that the clutch is the problem?
They root the clutch as the problem. Also the cluch pedal will occasionally make a clunk noise that you can feel in the clutch pedal. This happens when you push the clutch in. Not all of the time, but when it seems when the trans. is under a "load" and I take the "load" off by pushing the clutch in. Also, this noise/sensation happens when the car has been sitting outside for a while. For instance, I'm at the office right now I will leave around 1PM. when I go to start up my A4, I push the clutch pedal in and I'll get that cluck noise/feeling that I'm talking about, I will push the clutch in again, and it happens again, but on a lighter note......do it again, and it goes away!
Any assessments will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you
Patrick B.

your problem is not in the clutch
your problem is in the transmission
seen many been repair or replace for that specially in the tt
ask them to check your transmission
