Going form a B6 to a B5.
I had to sell my 2002 B6 A4 1.8T w/ a GIAC chip that I loved so dearly due to the bills of moving twice in one year racking up. I want another A4 when money allows, I was thinking an A4 Avant 5-speed.
My concerns are that I was used to a DBW with a K03sport chipped, I'm worried that if I get a non DBW 1.8T w/ a K03sport I'll be sorely unimpressed. Can anyone either tell me if the '01 is in this configuration and/or tell me a non DBW is as fun, if not more fun?

The '01 is a DBW K03 sport...
2000 is DBW K03
1999.5 and older are nDBW K03s
A Dahlback-chipped 2001 will likely be faster than your B6, simply because of weight.
nDBW actually gives you a little more throttle response, and can still get a good amount of power.
You could always put a K04 in --- except for an '01

It wont be for some time yet, I plan on buying one with cash.
I just felt left out not having to replace my control arms and bushings.
No but really, I need a cheaper car and a station wagon and I am not inspired by the B6 Avants. I've been thinking about a 30v but I don't know what gas mileage to expect with that. My outback gets ~26hwy, so I suppose it'd be about the same.

I personaly hate DBW... i mean DBW...EDITED!
its just another thing to cause delay and more stuff to break. the only benefit is the MAP sensor in the intercooler to check boost pressure.
I like to know when im going to the floor, that throtle is wide open, I even modifed my throtle body to open a full 90 degrees ratehr than the factory 84 degrees.
Also if you ever plan of realy upping the ante with a bigger turbo the nDBW is the AEB cyl head with the bigger ports, and bigger intake manifold runners. and nDBW tends to be easier to tune. Ive read of a few problems with PES and ATP big turbo on DBW and trouble tuning custom setups with it.
And all the big hp people either use nDBW or have switched to it (I think Audi2ptzero is in the process or has already)
I ahve a K03 sport on my nDBW AEB,w ith the dahlback chip and my other mods in my sig and im faster than my buddys chipped exhausted and injen intake 180 TT quattro 5 speed, it also FEELS noticeably faster becuse there isnt a delay because of the DBW.
Just my $0.02
