good for Audi, bad for BMW review
Here's a link to a review of the 325xi wagon. Good praise for the A4 Avant and WRX wagon at the bottom.<ul><li><a href="http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/roadtests/spin/46587/article.html">Edmunds BMW 325xi wagon</a></li></ul>

Yahoo! They suggest the 2.8 Avant!
They couldn't be more on the money if you ask me. Who does the Bimmer interiors? It looks like you could hose them out when they get dirty. I think BMW is being lazy.

No hate... just the truth...
I was comparing the 3 series to the A4 before I decided to go with the A4. The review is dead on about the completely horrid optioning of the 3-series vehicles (all except the rag tops which come loaded, as they should for ~40k). I was actually floored at how much extra you had to put on a Bimmer to meet the base level of an A4. You have to pay through the nose to get cruise control, climate control, etc. BMW is addressing this but it doesn't look like they've gone far enough. You can literally price a 3 into the same range as a 5, and even a stripped 5 is a much nicer car than a 3 just based on interior space and the extra features the 5 buys in with.
Right now BMW is coasting on its image and name in the entry lux-sports sedan market. As more and more people wake up and smell the Audi they'll be forced to put the price of the 3 on a diet *AND* bulk up the standard features list. Right now... if I were an Audi dealer I'd buy a loaded 3-series and park it right next to all of my A4's and leave the sticker on it, take comparison shopping to the n'th degree... Cars would fly off the lot... I'm sure.
Lump in the horrid value of the 3 series with the same interior that all BMW's have had for the past decade (sure it's nice, but the Audi's is spectacular), and an A4 becomes a no brainer. Particularly if you ever see snow... :-)
