Default Go out and buy a new pair of speakers for the front doors, sell the single working Bose speaker to

someone on here. It is what I did and I ended up even (which was my goal).

Default don't the Bose run on 2 ohm? how did you do this with the aftermarket speakers

that usually run on 4 ohm? how did you mix both Bose and brand xxx?

Default I don't know that that will work, seeing as the Bose are 2-ohm. Isn't that a problem?

I'm not a stereo genius, but I have always known that you can't run speakers with varying impedances off the same amp, and the Bose system is amplified. Just gotta find on eof these at a decent price....

Default Yeah, I've read that as well. Ran 4 ohm fronts (aftermarket) in last car and current car without any

issues. In theory the fronts (4 ohm) should sound fainter compared to the rear (2 ohm), nope, nor I or anyone else can audibly notice a difference.

As far as damaging the system, I have not had any issues... (knocks on wood)

Default Thanks for the tip, Tyler---I may just try that for laughs and see what happens!

I'm a bit nervous about it, but I do have several aftermarket quality speakers that might fit in there--I have some 3" Polk Audios that are like 100watt'ers that should be a clear fit. We'll see...

Default Yeah a 3" speaker is going to be way too small. Stock is 4+, the aftermarket ones I use are 5.25".

The mounting points are going to be different regardless. Stock uses a three point mount (triangle), while normal speakers use 4 (in square shape).

The way it was explained to me is using 2 ohm speaker with system that is meant to run 4 ohm could damage amp (2 ohm speakers drawing more than amp can handle), but using 4 ohm speakers w/ 2 ohm system is fine because it is drawing less 'current' than the amp expects. This could be why I havent had an issue in any of the A4's I have done this in.
