Default Got Bass?

After reading some posts in recent days about folks wantng to just add bass without replacing the whole system, here is what I did.

1- Added a sealed box with a 12" alumapro sub, a Rockford Fosgate 180 x 1 amp feeding from the low outputs (rear). Results: WAAAY too much bass, even with the bass on the head turned to -6.

2- Added a gain control under dash to have some control of the sub, and changed to the high output of the head (front). Results: Better control, but still way to low with not enough "thump", still too much "boom".

3- Added a Kicker Xover, using only the output for the sub. Results: Total control, and perfect sound!

At high levels, the stock speakers just cannot handle the stress, and will not win any sound competitions, which was not my goal anyway, but for normal semi-loud listening the sound is great. AND, I still get 90% use of my trunk. Can't ask for much more than that!
Edward A

Default Turn your sub around. It'll tighten right up and reduce the volume a bit.

Default Does it slide around?

Do you have a way of anchoring the box so it doesn't slide around?
2000 Audi 1.8TQCS

Default For some odd reason, it stays put really well with no anchors!

Default HOLD UP.. How do you add the bass control thing.?

When I first got my system (2- rockford 10's powered by 615 watts of rockford power) I figure there could NEVER be enough bass.. But i think im going deaf, SERIOUSLY... I have the amp turned all the way down along with my bose bass control.. But you know how it is, some songs need the extra bass, while others don't.. So back to the question how do I install a bass control hooked up directly to the system? How much if i have a shop do it? How much If i do it? thanks for listing and hope you can help.. thanks again
Johnny A.
