Default got my insurance check...what to do!

I got my insurance estimate...

The people at State Farm told me I just need new bumper 'covers', $300 each for front and rear. I was told by many people that you can only get the whole bumper assembly. Anyway, they quoted me for 'reconditioned' bumper covers too...I'm not too happy about this. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, they quoted $330 for one muffler (rear) and $370 for the other (middle), which comes to $700 which is pretty good...I could get an aftermarket system for that, right? Catback?

The agent I dealt with told me that if there's any more stuff I need to have done (like whole bumper assemblies) they can cut me another check, so that's good to hear. So far the insurance experience hasn't been bad...I just want to know about those bumpers.

Default S4 front bumper will run you about $400 with grilles... don't settle for refurbed parts...

There's just no need to.

Default The bumper is one piece, aside from the lower valances (front or rear)

The valances are about $75 a piece, so they didn't quote you for that.

They think the bumper is two parts, a plastic outter cover and an inner metal part. They are wrong.

You can't get either refurbished either way, so you got screwed there. Complain.

Have an Audi mechanic/parts person write a letter and state that the bumpers are one piece and have them include the cost of the part.

They sound willing to work with you, so if you do the above, it won't be a problem I think.

Add $100 to that $700 for the exhaust and you can get a full cat back brullen system for your 2.8 from LLtek.

Default state farm rocks.

Don't forget to ask them for money for rental car. They will cut you a check for a reasonable # of days X (lowball # like $25).

Brothers car got the front bumper ripped off by a red-light-runner in a suv.

They looked it over, cut me a check for $4500 and $150 for rental fee. I just took the check to the bank and signed it over to my brother. The car wasn't worth the amount of damages, I went back got the bumper, and tie wrapped it back on (94 taurus sho).

The insurer is responsible also for any hidden charges that come up during the year that can be caused by the accident.

Take it to a body shop, have them tear it down, if they say the bumper support is bad, you have full rights to a new bumper support, etc.

gotta love state farm
